The young woman in this Reddit story owes her best friend and her mother some Benjamins.

“I owe my friend about $300 from recently and my mom about $400 over the past few months (concert tickets and other leisure expenses).”
Luckily, she just got a job making pretty good money and is planning to pay her friend and her mom back with her first two paychecks. That means that she won't have much money for herself in June.
Instead of praising her for paying off her debt, her mother has another idea for how she should spend this money.
“My mom wants me to spend another $50-100 on gifts for my relatives. For no reason other than “treating them with my first paycheck”. My dad’s birthday is also soon so I need to save for that, and I told her I don’t know if I’ll be treating everyone else to gifts at the moment since I just wanna get all the money I owe people out of the way first.”
You would think that her mother would be happy to get the money she's owed back, but instead, she called her daughter a greedy person who only cares about herself. Her reaction tells me that she's the person who taught her daughter to get into debt.
If you were this 19-year-old, how would you handle this situation?
